Something inspired by David Bowie and William Burroughs

David Bowie sometimes used a cut-up technique for his lyrics inspired by Williams Burroughs. I have done this occasionally (long time in the past) with some song lyrics (which I will try to dig out). So I decided to try something similar and found a word generator site. While this only generates a list of single words I thought I would select a word to include in each line & build up that line around it. I set the number of words to be returned each time to 24 & selected the word I wanted to keep each time I clicked. I then ran again until I had some words I wanted to use.

The words I kept were cloud, contrast, glass, gleaming, crowded, sacrifice, journey, secret & whispered. (They didn’t come out in that order and I should have kept the order at the time).

Ended up with:-

The cloud came over to contrast with the pain
The tall glass geaming buiding was crowded from the rain
You sacrifice your feeling and journey to the past
A secret to be whispered and a dream that will not last!

Why am I doing this? Is it any good? Haven’t a clue; but I’ve decided to do things for the sake of doing them and enjoying the process regardless of the finished article. I’ve spent my life being cautious in displaying/sharing my ‘artistic’ (for want of a better word) endeavors but the reason for this site is to record my workings and be honest in whatever the outcome!

I plan to continue with the verse above using exactly the same technique & see where it leads.
