Another sound experiment (inspired by Philip Glass). I installed a useful piece of software called VB-CABLE which allows me to record sound from my computer into music software. For instance, I have used it to get sounds into Ableton Live, Reaper and Audacity.

I wanted to base something on spoken words and found the site https://www.internet-radio.com/. Searched for some preacher/God ‘stations’ as I thought this might produce some interesting phrases. Recorded a short section of the first thing I found engaging using Ableton Live and ‘chopped up’ into something that sounded decent to me.

Note that I’m not going into any detail at the moment of how I install software etc. as this would just take me too much time in these blog posts. Needless to say that there is loads of information to be found online if help needed in installing and setting up music software/hardware.

Also, I do have some traditional musical instruments, guitars/keyboards etc. (nothing grand and maybe will post about them at some stage). But, at the moment I’m solely using the laptop QWERTY keyboard in my musical endeavours. This is enough at the moment for me to scrabble around on my laptop trying to learn the basics.

I also want to say that I’m not particularly motivated by using pre-made loops at the moment. Nothing against this method of music creation but I currently find it more satisfying to create my phrases from scratch. (I’m sure that I will be using loops in some capacity in the future).
